At Blue Paper, we consider Mother Earth’s natural resources as a valuable asset that is our duty to protect, that’s why sustainability and environmental protection are given a high priority. Our target is to reduce the environmental footprint of our operations and products throughout the life cycle; from raw material sourcing, production, delivery and product use to the recycling and reuse of products.
Handling environmental matters is an integrated part of day-to-day management and operations at Blue Paper based on the principle of continuous improvement through a strong certified management system.
Sustainable use of water is one of Blue Paper core environmental principles. In fact water plays a major role in paper production, from the preparation of recovered paper into a pulp to the end of the process. At Blue Paper, the water used is coming from the ground and to preserve this resource, production circuits are made so that water is always returned into the production cycle after use. The effluent from the paper machine is cleaned using mechanical and biological processes to a highest standard before being released. This effluent is daily monitored in both internal and external laboratory insuring a good follow up to keep our waste water treatment plant in high efficiency level.
The paper production process requires substantial amount of steam, gas and electricity. Our aim at Blue Paper is to continuously reduce the carbon footprint of our operations. We are using renewable energy sources with our biomass and biogas boilers. We are actively developing new low carbon footprint solutions as producing electricity with steam turbine, biogas motor or waste-to-energy plant. Presently, 75% of our power generation capacity is free from fossil CO2 emissions. Products are mainly produced using renewable energy.
